Looking Back and Looking Forward
This one-day symposium is a celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Columbia School Linguistics Seminar. Formalized as a University Seminar in 2011, the seminar’s long history began in the spring of 1968 when a half dozen graduate students asked Columbia Professor William Diver to meet, so they could learn more about the innovative linguistic perspective he was teaching in his classes. At this symposium, past and present seminar members share their work and the impact of the seminar and Columbia School linguistics on their scholarship and careers.
