The purpose of this seminar is to explore the effects of pollution and environmental regulation on water and related environmental resources. Forty-one volumes of the Proceedings of the Seminar, collections of the lectures have been published. Besides these volumes, the seminar has contributed over forty articles written in seven languages abroad and in the United States. The research institute of the seminar, the American Academy of Ocean Sciences, conducted research actively from 1969 to 1985. Since its founding, thirty-three graduate students have participated in the seminar, and their participation has been credited toward their studies.

Abstract

Nature-based solutions, including green rainwater infrastructure, can help with climate resiliency, stormwater management, habitat improvement, and neighborhood revitalization that can improve equity. This talk will review what nature-based solutions are, their benefits, and the problems they solve. Nature-based solutions offer multi-benefit solutions for communities and the environment and focus on utilizing natural systems as infrastructure. While many nature-based solutions exist, this talk will focus on stormwater management (green rainwater infrastructure) and sea level rise resiliency (horizontal/ecotone levees and shoreline restoration).
