This correspondence between these two people is extremely important for understanding of the roots and principles of Russian symbolism. Viacheslav Ivanov (1866-1949) was the prominent Russian poet and thinker of Russia’s Silver Age, his second wife Lidiia Zinov’eva-Annibal (1866-1907) was a writer who died at the peak of her professional work. Her literary work was highly appreciated by A. Blok who wrote: “We can’t imagine all she could give to Russian literature”. This correspondence is also the story of their love and spiritual relations. This book, the first complete publication of the letters, is the result of international collaboration, and includes materials kept in various collections.
